Serina Moore Scott, L. Ac., Dipl.Ac.(NCCAOM), first became involved with Acupuncture and Herbs in 1990, and has completed two Masters’ Degrees in Oriental Medicine. The first is from the International Institute of Chinese Medicine in Santa Fe, New Mexico and the second is from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, California.
In addition to being certified to practice Acupuncture nationally, she also maintains a state license to practice Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine in California, which is a more specialized credential that requires an educational background in Western medicine.
She has participated in two pioneering projects where traditional medicine and acupuncture were offered together. These projects were administered jointly by Pacific College of Oriental Medicine and UC San Diego Medical School. This is reflective of a new trend of true integration of world medicines.
She has a wide range of clinical experience, including eleven years of private practice, two of them being in the Virgin Islands, three in northern California, and six in East Tennessee. Her office is now located in Morristown, Tennessee.
In March 2008, Serina was appointed by Governor Phil Bredesen to the Tennessee Advisory Committee for Acupuncture. She was reappointed in 2012 by Governor Bill Haslam.
